Heart of Jesus, king and center of all hearts, have mercy on us.

The heart has from antiquity been known as the place in which our emotions reside and emanate from. While today with modern science we know that the brain controls all our emotions and desires, still the heart is a symbol that most any person, in any culture, can identify with. Think of the function of the heart, the life sustaining blood filled with oxygen and nutrients, is pumped out to every place of the body. The depleted blood is then sent back into the heart to begin the process all over again. So it is within the very center of our heart that Jesus wants to live.  While this life of communion with Jesus in our hearts is a wonderful metaphor of how much Jesus loves us, the Sacrament of Holy Communion makes it a reality.
